Phoenix Home Educated Archery Team (Phoenix HEAT) placed first the High School division during the 2018 Arizona Archery in the Schools Program State Championship held at Ben Avery Shooting Range March 3, 2018.

Six archers also received top individual awards and the team qualified for the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Nationals tournament held in April in Sandy, UT.

Five HEAT archers received individual awards in the 2018 NASP 3D State Championship on the same day.

The Phoenix HEAT have been part of the Arizona Game and Fish Archery in the Schools program for 18 years and the team is currently coached by Head Coach Susan Konves and assistant coaches Lori Johannsen and Paula Macdonald.

During the past season, each member of the Phoenix HEAT endeavored not only to prefect their archery technique, but also to earn the money needed to travel and compete at Nationals in Sandy, Utah.

On average, it costs between $1,000 and $1,500 to travel to and compete in the NASP National Championships.
